NIDUS-UK
IN MEMORIAM
Steve Cawte, who had worked as a project officer for
NIDUS-UK since March 2023, died on 21st August 2024.
His funeral was held on 24th October and a flood
of tributes has been made to him from all over the
country. But his funeral was more of a celebration wake
than a time of sadness, and we were reminded of his
work as a Lincoln catalyst for poetry, singing, drama,
acting and writing, over and over again in the many
tributes paid on that day. In Thomas Gray’s Elegy in a
Country Chuchyard there is a famous line:
'Some mute inglorious Milton here may rest.'
Steve will indeed rest after a long battle with heart
disease at a ridiculously young age, but he will certainly
not remain mute or inglorious. He developed the new
logo for our website www.nidotherapy.co.uk and as
part of our thanks for his life I add the following:
Steve Cawte: a NIDUS tribute

A rippling wave runs rampant through the field
A shimmering dance of dappled light revealed
Nods and kisses, with smiles on ev’ry face
Though rooted each glowing blade finds its place
The magic of this scene comes from the breeze
And without it there would be less to please
Makes us recall another kind of breath
One that blows strong and hard and knows not
death
It stirs the cornfields of our lazy souls
Brings us the meaning of our harvest holds
So as we remember the one who’s left
His memory should not leave us bereft
And this statement we can all approve
The breath he breathed was the breath of love
