The Village Project

This project will begin in August 2024. Its intention is to deliver the option of nidotherapy to the population of six villages (two combined) in Nottinghamshire (total adult population 422) over the course of one year. This will take place in six stages.

First 3 months

A combination of promotional activities will be carried out in all the villages. This will include letters to the households of all the villages, meetings at local venues (including churches and the Nidotherapy Advice and Training Centre in Cotham), newspaper and local radio promotion, open meetings at the Training Centre and support from villagers who are in full accord with the aims of the project. As this is a ‘whole community’ project it can only be successful if most of the community take part. Clearly some will not be interested, giving a variety of good reasons, and at this stage of the project we need to identify them as we have no wish to bombard them with information subsequently that will only annoy.

In this stage the first assessments of environmental wishes (the Environmental Checklist) and baseline health data will be recorded.

02

Second three months

Two of the villages will be randomised to receive nidotherapy at the beginning of this period. from one of six therapists. This will mean that the suggested changes to improve health identified in the Environmental Checklist will be examined and
implemented if possible. Those that are desired but involve others will require discussion with other villagers, possibly in public meetings if they are major. Brief summary recordings of health status will also be repeated in all villagers.

04

Nine to twelve months

The last two villages will be assessed for. The same procedure described in Stage 2 will be followed. Nidotherapy outcomes will be recorded also.
